Hello World!

My name Adrienne Allmond, some people call me A.D., but my blogging name (which I just recently chose) is Blacbutterflyy.

I am currently enrolled in Georgetown University as a graduate student seeking my master’s degree in Public Relations and Corporate Communications.

I have had some interest for some time in starting my own blog as a platform to communicate about my personal life as well broadcast my outspoken opinions on matters pertaining to music, fashion, lifestyle, pop culture and celebrity gossip. I find these areas to be most entertaining and interesting for me to talk about. No politics here….I deplore discussing politics!

My Social Media professor has required that we start a blog as part of our class requirements so for now you may be a little puzzled as to which direction I am going in with many of my blog entries. Many of my entries, for now, will be related to reading assignments that he wants me to talk about…but don’t worry..as soon as this class is over (and I get my ‘A’) …. I will be diving fully into serving you all with the beautiful random rants, revelations and ramblings from the soul of one Blacbutterflyy! So stay TUNED!

Why Blacbutterflyy?

Well I am glad you asked! I chose the name blacbutterflyy for a couple of reasons:

First, the name is honor of a tattoo I recently got. In Ancient Greek mythology, butterflies are linked to the human souls of those who had passed away. The Greek word for butterfly is “Psyche”, which translated means “soul”. I chose to get a tattoo of a black butterfly to signify MY personal linkage to the souls of my ancestors as well as my departed mother and father.

Next, I attribute a butterfly to the sudden emergence of something beautiful that eventually takes flight. That is I… Blacbutterflyy

If you break down the name “Blacbutterflyy”…it comes out to three adjectives that I use to describe myself, my style and my taste… Black, Butter and Fly. If you cannot understand that… I advise consulting an Urban Dictionary.

I purposely misspell “Blacbutterflyy” with the “K” missing and the extra “Y” on the end as a tribute to my hip-hop/generation X culture. Among the many misunderstood contributions my generation is making in the world today, we have also somehow managed to make it socially acceptable (and in some cases, even cool) to misspell simple words as long as you are actually educated enough to know appropriate spelling. ;0)
